German police arrested a man shooting guard Pope Benedict XVI in Erfurt. On this September 24 Fox News reported quoting an official statement by the Vatican.
The incident occurred on Saturday morning. Shortly before the Mass that Pope must have served in Erfurt, an unidentified man shot one of his guards. It is reported that the security guard who was about six hundred yards in from Benedict XVI, was slightly wounded in the leg (according to some reports, the woman is - employee protection).
According to The Local, the assailant fired several shots at several security officers. Having established the place from which shots were fired, police waited until the end of Mass, and arrested the suspect.
The Vatican said that the incident had no relation to the Pope's visit to Germany. Pontiff of the incident report did not. Schedule of Pope Benedict XVI visits the German cities has not changed.
